Chen Neuroscience Research Building (CNRB)
The Tianqiao & Chrissy Chen Neuroscience Research Building
The building is being intentionally designed to foster opportunities for cross-disciplinary work and collaboration through
communal lab spaces, centralized working and lounging areas, and a mix of outdoor environments. In addition, a pedestrian tunnel will
connect the sub-basement of the new building to the neighboring Broad Center for the Biological Sciences to strengthen
partnerships between the researchers of both buildings. The Chen building will serve as the Institute's hub for neuroscience
150,000+ square feet. It will be a three stories tall, with two basements.
A dozen+ faculty lab groups, student and administrative offices and support spaces for the Division of Biology and Biological Engineering.
A teaching lab and a 150-seat lecture hall.
Will provide wet, dry and computational research labs.
Major building Donation: December 2016.
Design: Through 2017.
Relocation of and preservation of Historical Bungalows and early site prep: Spring 2018.
Full Site Demo and Excavation: Summer 2018.
Bungalow Court site: Completed Fall 2019.
Chen Building Completion: Estimated for Fall 2020.
